Rogue's Review:

Please, God, no remake

This was on the Flix cable network last night ~ they've been showing a lot of Malle's older films, and I hadn't seen this one before; needless to say, a treat was in store for me.

A very subtle, cleverly diabolic little tale of misguided assumptions, nasty confusions and the like, the movie takes place over a short period of time, in which 2 different couples' lives intertwine in ways they're not even aware of, all played out against the backdrop of Miles Davis' exquisite music. It all comes together in the end, and although I thought there were a few plot holes, the overall atmosphere of the piece and the brilliant performances - Moreau in particular - save the day.
