Rogue's Review:

huh?

This movie starts out promisingly enough, but it is quickly dragged down by the mind-bogglingly bad casting and the confusion in the script regarding the main character's secret.

To be more specific, Anthony Hopkins and Wentworth Miller do not look alike in any way, shape or form, so all the flashbacks are unbelievable, and there's a lot of them; the flashbacks are a major part of the story. What I think they should have done is gotten some photos of Hopkins when he was younger and cast someone accordingly. And as for the secret, it's handled very poorly as well - just lousy screen-writing, plain and simple.

Nicole Kidman's performance is stunning, Hopkins is fine as always, and Ed Harris thoroughly nails his part. Unfortunately, Gary Sinese's character is basically a plot device which doesn't pay off in any satisfying way; in fact, this movie is an exercise in dissatisfaction - for the characters themselves and, more unfortunately, for the audience.
