Rogue's Review:Eye see dead people
Caught this on cable last night - The Eye is a very well done Chinese supernatural/horror film with excellent performances and an intelligent, creative script that keeps the viewer interested throughout. Of course it's derivative - it goes without saying that a lot of stuff here has been done in many other films but it's still carried off in an eerie enough way to make it a valid expenditure of a couple of hours, particularly the ending. Plus I hadn't seen this kind of theme done in a Chinese movie before which made it all the more interesting. If they just somehow could have gotten Haley Joel to sneak in a cameo appearance (during one of the hospital scenes, perhaps), it would have even been better.
